We certainly know the Tour de France through newspapers or television.
In 2016 I had an opportunity to watch this race once when the cyclist group passed Carcassonne. We organized a picnic there because we arrived quite early.
Along the way there were many fans waiting along the road. Although the group had not arrived, they were still cheering.
While waiting for the group to arrive, there were parades of sponsors. They decorated their cars quite eye-catching, there were both animators and gifts for the fans on both sides of the road.
We also got a lot of gifts.
Finally, the group arrived. People cheered for all the athletes, from the top to the last ones. All the cyclists did their best. When we watch TV, we can not imagine the same speed they can do like when they ride pass us in real life.
Although the supporters waited for a long time and the group passed in a split second, but no one seemed to be upset. Some people even took their cars and continued to cheer for the cyclists.
It was a very enjoyable experience for me when I came to France that year.
And tomorrow, July 7, 2018, the Tour de France will begin. Unfortunately this year I have no chance to go watch the race.
Below is the map and schedule where the group will pass. If you are interested in this race and are close to these places do not miss it!

I hope next year I will be able to watch this race again.
